The width of the legs are 15 ft. for the 20 ft. wall and 12 ft. for the 27 ft. wall. I have a 10 ft. ceiling for the resulting 12 ft. x 12 ft. section and a cathedral ceiling for the 20 ft. x 15 ft. section. The total cubic footage is about 5000.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Bob. Very helpful. I had Shasha 1s before we moved to Florida few years ago in a 20x13x8 room and they were great. Traded them on Duette 2s and now in a 20x30x12 room and the smaller speakers are a bit lost. That extra ceiling space doubles the room volume so now I'm up to 7,200 cu. ft. Think I might need to go with Sasha 2s instead of Yvette to give me full sound.

Happy New Year to all
Bob

It was a no brainer to choose Yvette over Sabrina for my room. The lifelike weight in the bass up though the mids emulates the biggest of Wilsons. Yvette has no right to be this good. You just need to make sure your amp is up to the task.
Bill, really appreciate reading about your opinion's on the Yvette. It sounds like an awesome speaker and I can't wait to hear it.

I'm trying to suggest a system for a friend of mine and wonder if you think the Ayre KX-5 Twenty / VX-5 Twenty combo would be a good choice for the Yvettes? Do you think this amp would be up to the task? I see the sensitivity on the Sasha 2 is 92 db @ 1w while the Yvette is 86 db @ 1w.

Your opinion would be greatly appreciated!

Best regards,

Hi Bob not dissimilar to mine (although yours has a higher ceiling). I have Sophia 2s but find the bass lacking although this may also be due to the room acoustics. How do you find the bass performance with your set up ? How far are the speakers from the front wall ?

My Yvettes are placed about 30" away from the 'front' wall and angled in to my principal listening position for serious listening sessions. The speaker placement was done by Paragon Sight and Sound personnel during installation using the method outlined in the speaker's instruction manual. I find the bass response to be very satisfying. For example, organ is nicely and cleanly reproduced for the vinyl version of "The Planets" by the LA Philharmonic - Metha (Decca CS-3764) and where appropriate on "Midnight in the Grand Court", Gothic G-49247 CD, which features the Wanamaker Organ at Macy's in Philadelphia. As a point of comparison, I have heard the Wanamaker Organ live many times. Tympani rolls are particularly clean with little to no 'bloat'. Bass (the instrument) usually sounds 'right' and images well for acoustic jazz recordings.

I do not bother much with rock, but Steely Dan vinyl sounds pretty good to me.

Hope this helps.

Bob

Smile Yvettes incoming

Hey Bob,

Thanks for the update. From what I understand and read, they will be terrific.

Basically, Yvette seems to be a non adjustable Sasha. The permanent settings of the speaker happen to exactly match the dimensions of my room set up, so no need for the time domain adjustability. They should be wonderful "right out of the box". I just this minute heard that my Yvettes will arrive here tomorrow. The dealer comes by on Friday for the formal install. As this is my fourth set of Wilsons maybe I'll take a crack at setting them up before Friday. Really looking forward to the new speakers. More later.

Best,
Bob

Wow, are you setting up a separate system with these? Or actually replacing your Sasha's?

I'm guessing you definitely have the experience to set them up, probably need to tweak to your liking after the dealer leaves. That's what I did.

Actually... this has been a bit of a long thread but to recap... after making my way through the B&W line to the 800's bought some WP7s when they came out. Was very happy until I heard the Sasha 1s, so traded in. Then we moved to here to Florida a couple of years ago. Thought I'd be downsizing and my dealer loves the Duette 2s. But, he's a towny in Wash, DC where small rooms in old, very expensive houses are the norm. Traded the Sashas in and he drop shipped me the Duettes. Mistake. My rig ended up in a 7000 cu ft room, the wonderful Duettes are lost in there, even with a JL Audio 13in. sub. So, traded the Duettes in on the Yvettes. That will be it though, my financial advisor tells this old goof, enough is enough. But, the car lease comes up later this year so...

Although the Sasha has 2 x 8" woofers rather than 1 x 10"... I read somewhere the former equates to a single 12" and given the greater speaker volume I guess the bottom end is 20%-30% stronger with the Sasha ?

I am sure they both sound great but my issue is with the bass - but perhaps the Yvette will be enough based on Bob's comments above. BTW I have tried the Sophia close to the front wall, etc it doesn't solve the problem.

I do like the look of the Yvette and in many ways is probably a better match for my low ceiling listening room than the Sasha. I am happy with my Sophias in other respects.
