Guys.......The peer pressure here is brutal.

My total album collection is about 150, down from my heyday when I had over 1200 albums. I sure got tired of moving those heavy boxes in my younger days, but wish now I had kept all of them. It doesn't make good sense to spend $14K (turntable + cartridge) to play a vinyl collection worth less than $2K.

My Micro Seiki turntable with the M505 arm is no slouch. I may consider the Clearaudio Maestro, but haven't made up my mind about that, either.

It doesn't hurt to look at the Thorens TD-550, but that's all I am doing. Just looking!

Dan, unless you've stopped buying music all together, you can simply focus on buying more vinyl. Lot's of new vinyl to listen to and of course the preowned market is also something that helps to build up your library. I've also dumped my collection of vinyl many years ago but I doubt they would have been any good since I never knew anything about proper setup and only had junky turntables to play them on.

I've been buying stuff that I actually like to listen to, the "collecting for the sake of collecting" hasn't set in yet. Some people have over 10k records in their libraries but don't remember the last time they've listened to 80% of them. I'm trying to prioritize from my favorite stuff like jazz, blues and classic rock and will pick up an album or two off the beaten path just for variety. It's all great fun.

I was motivated to wire up my turntable into the rack today. I am listening to Nora Jones on LP and while it sounds very good , the CD still sounds better to me via the MCD500. It could be my set up and or just the tt.

David.......So all this talk about turntables got you going. That Thorens TD-550 sure would look good right above the top MC501.
