The 5755 phono pre amp will also use an 80, and prolly a 5z3 rectifier as well.

I just scored a "cosmetically imperfect" Princess 274b mesh plate from Sophia , so I'm excited to hear what that does to the already amazing sound from the LP-2. If I recall, this is the rectifier you use; correct?

Are there any particular 6FM7s you have found sound best?
I use all sorts of rectifiers. The 274B is equivalent to a 5U4G, which I run regularly. I have a 274b somewhere, but hellifIknow where it is...

I haven't really used the 6JM6/6FM7 tubes. However, I have sorted the stock at the Toy Shop, and IIRC all the major US manufacturers made versions. Try them all, they're cheap...

Default And now....

The new Phono pre amp.

This phono pre features a 5Y3 rectifier, a pair of 6SL7s and a 12AX7 cathode folllower.

The retail price is $2500 plus shipping. We are taking orders now and this amazing piece of gear is being offered here first, not on that auction site.

PM me for details....

Hmm... So slow warm up time is the only advantage? The potential damage to the filter capacitors is a non issue, $40 every 15 years is quite a bit less than the price of good tube rectifiers! My push pull amp uses solid state rectification. When I flip the switch, the filaments light up, then the B+ is applied several seconds later, and then the bias voltage comes up. At least that's how it looks on the meters on the amp. If that's the actual case it would seem to get around the issues of solid state rectifiers right?

I have had 2 5ar4 rectifiers arc on me in my Firebottle. The general consensus seems to be buy a Mullard GZ34 and not worry about it any more. Think I'd rather have a solid state rectifier. I have gone back to using a 5u4g in the firebaottle and sacrificing a few watts of output power. My preamp uses a 5ar4 and I have a Matsushita one for it and a spare. I don't know what caused the other 5ar4 tubes to arc other than Russian ones don't have the best reputation.

I'm still leery of mercury rectifiers. Though if they last a very long time maybe the light show might be worth it. Are there any shipping issues with them?

Wow; that's a beauty
I'm glad I don't have a vinyl setup, or my wallet would be burning to do some spending on one of those

Correct. 47K on the loading. Dennis will manufacture MC step up transformers for an extra $350 per unit.

Sorry for the newbie question, but how does one access/view "the Marketplace"?
