Stephan,
I read the loci only does dsd 1x. What happens when you fed inan2x file? Does it down-sample or will it not play it at all?

AFAIK, it will not play at all.

Just an update...it's been about a month since I posted about Loki, and I've received inquiries from AA members about it.

I love my Schiit Loki, and I listen to it frequently. I am very impressed with it's sound quality regardless of cost, but at $149, this has got to be one of the greatest bargains in audio.

Have a Loki coming in today that I will be running into a Class-A Pass Integrated. Can't wait and I'd love to hear any longer term impressions, or tips w/ Audirvana etc...

Just connected my new Loki today. I did not give it nearly enough tome to break in playing for only 3 hours or so. Out of the box I have to say it sounded mighty good playing DSD files and playing all other files converted to DSD via j.river.

The fact that you can convert pcm to dsd on the fly and send it to the Loki makes it a very compelling value proposition. I will give it a few days to break in and will report back.

Converting from PCM to DSD gives you something more than PCM?

Not sure yet. I have not had time to compare them. This will have to wait until the Loki is fully broken in.

Same here. Basically breaking in the Loki, the USB cable, a HI-FI Tuning Supreme fuse on the Pass Integrated, and a slightly adjusted speaker location. Initially, I thought it might have sounds a little lean, but Lee Morgan The Sidewinder is sounds really nice right now, so I'm going to have to hold off on any hard-fast impressions for a few days...
