Prefer to spend my $$ on goods from free societies that do not rely on stealing technology from others as the foundation of their business model. Has nothing to do with 'politically correct'.

Ok and I agree with that statement in general but there is no evidence that PrimaLuna which is designed by audio engineers in Holland and uses parts sourced from around the globe while being assembled in China has stolen anything from anyone.

It is bringing joy of listening to the consumer while employing the workers putting labor into it, and bringing a small profit to the manufacturers, importers and dealers like any other product.

How is it different if McIntosh uses parts sourced from China (some of their products are made in China). All the parts that go inside a McIntosh, ARC, Accuphase, Luxman, etc are made in various places and assembled somewhere.

How can one compare the price of Accuphase to a PrimaLuna? A top notch preamp from PrimaLuna costs $4600 while an Accuphase preamp, by the time it is sold here in the US is $40K retail... Big difference, no? I'm not going to get into the law of diminishing returns here because that is a whole different topic we can discuss separately.

Default The PrimaLuna EVO Series Garners Rave Reviews Worldwide.

Dan (Jdandy) reviewed a PrimaLuna Prologue Premium a number of years ago. Dan was no slouch when evaluating quality. It was because of his review that I bought my PrimaLuna Dialogue Premium Integrated Amp, the predecessor to Serge’s (PHC1) Dialogue Premium HP.

Here is his review:

Dan was a very eloquent writer. I and I am sure many others enjoyed reading his honest, well thought out and insightful reviews.

I miss Dan... may he rest in peace...

Serge - if you want to spend your time pimping and $$ buying Chinese goods that's your business. However, when there are excellent alternatives (my Cary gear, for instance) at reasonable prices I will not purchase from a totalitarian country whose business practices are inconsistent with those of the free world, when given a choice. We each make our choices and live with them.

Glenn, I am not "pimping" anything. Pimps get paid for their work...

Just sharing the well deserved accolades bestowed upon PrimaLuna. If I find it of value and inspiring enough to share my opinion on a good sounding audiophile piece, then I see that as a direct benefit to this forum and members who may not be familiar with PrimaLuna as a potential choice in their quest. It is up to each individual to decide once they do their research.

I do not find anything objectionable to the fact it is assembled in China. How and where Herman van den Dungen, accomplishes the assembly of the tremendous bang for buck and great sounding PrimaLuna products is his problem. I am happy to listen to it in the context of my own system. It sits next to the Japanese integrated and drives my British speakers perched on top of Bavarian made stands. Speaker cables are American and my streamer is of Canadian origin... Quite the international brigade.

Enjoy your Cary gear. I've owned some Dennis Had creations back in the day. One can buy Cary direct these days and at very discounted prices... https://carydirect.com/shop-now/inte...mplifiers.html

Also, you may want to objectively think about what products are in your house and why you have a German car instead of a Ford?

No question that it is next to impossible to not own some products made in China. Especially clothing of any sort or kitchen wares.

However, the largest exporter of automobiles (which includes SUVs) from North America has been BMW for several years (at least pre-pandemic - that may have changed in 2020). With a parent who fought in the ETO and father-in-law the Pacific, I often wonder about owning either German or Japanese vehicles. Not like Henry Ford was a very nice person, either. But, that was 75yr ago and China is 'current events'.

2020 saw an addition of a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and a Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland to my household. Toledo and Detroit plants. Made in the USA although of course FIAT/Chrysler or FCA is the parent company. Jeep of course was also instrumental in the battle vs the very well engineered BMW and Porsche creations of human misery and death. But hey, that was over 75 years ago?

I think that compensates for the assembled in China PrimaLuna.

McIntosh is owned by the Italian Private Equity Group Quadrivio. The factory is in Binghamton NY. Where do profits go?

It is almost pointless to discuss these things because chances are that there is not one single item that at least partially or some component in it was not built in China.... Especially electronic circuits.

Hong Kong: US$134.5 billion (18.7% of exported electronic circuit components)
China: $102.2 billion (14.2%)
Taiwan: $100.4 billion (13.9%)
South Korea: $79.1 billion (11%)
Singapore: $76.9 billion (10.7%)
Malaysia: $44.8 billion (6.2%)
United States: $40.1 billion (5.6%)
Japan: $27.8 billion (3.9%)

My 1st Boss (in 1981)whose father was imprisoned at Changi POW camp during WW2 absolutely refused to buy anything that was made in Japan. Last time I saw him (in 2019) he was driving a Honda. I guess the hate wears off.
