John Swenson has shared some interesting posts on clocks in the Master Clock thread under the Uptone forum on Audiophile Style. Excellent reading on the topic.

I don’t anticipate adding an external clock to my EtherRegen. What did deliver a huge benefit though was powering it with a Farad Super3. The power cord I’m using with it is the Venom V14 Digital.

But I will say, adding the etherRegen wasn't exactly mind blowing. I don't believe it was a huge difference in my case, and so I doubt that clocking vs unclocking is a big difference.

A clock costs many thousands of dollars (usually...) so I wouldn't buy one just for the small benefit of using with this ethernet switch. I'd only buy one for use with a DAC and potentially a transport or switch, etc as a secondary need. This is what I'm doing, personally. The clock has made a very nice improvement for my DAC (I've had a few actually).
2fastdriving, thanks for the input on the external clock for the EtherRegen. As stated earlier I have not received my EtherRegen from Uptone Audio, it is to ship around the 15th of this month. I will go ahead and install it initially without the external clock and see what it does. I will be using a Shunyata Research Omega Ethernet from the B side to my Roon Nucleus+ and the Omega USB to my McIntosh C53 preamp.

On a side note, I have a Omega USB installed for about 10 hours and I feel it is a significant upgrade from the Sigma USB

Kennyb123, I am still struggling on which external clock to go with, it probably will be the Mutec Ref 10.

I did decide to order a Farad Super 3 to use with my EtherRegen. Did you upgrade the fuse, DC cable or add the Rhodium as inlet? What voltage are you using for EtherRegen?

Also, I see you are using a Venom V14 digital? I have a Alpha NR V1 cable that I was plan on using. I talked Richard at Shunyata and he said it should work just fine. What is your thought on the V14 or Alpha NR V1 for the Farad LPS?

The Orange fuse is worth it. I skipped the rhodium IEC as I recalled Shunyata advising against rhodium. I went with 12v.

I went with the Level 2 copper from Farax. The Audio Sensibility Statement is even better as I am using one between my TT2 and a Super3. Eventually I might get one to use with the EtherRegen. It takes a long time to burn in but it’s wonderful after it has.

I went with the V14 Digital per Caelin’s recommendation. Since I didn’t already have a Shunyata cord for it, he didn’t necessarily think it was worth stretching beyond the V14D for a switch. I was very pleased with the noise reduction from it. I think Richard’s advice is on the mark on the Alpha v1... it’ll work just fine. I’d probably be inclined to sell it though and buy a V14D and put the remaining dollars to something else.

I run a Farad Super 3 with orange fuse and upgraded Furutech IEC. DC2-Silver GX16-4 cable. GX16-4 DC-inlet modified Meridian 210 streamer. Shunyata Alpha V2 NR AC cable.

This sounds absolutely wonderful! Bass is omnipresent and textures/overtones/air plenty. So pleased with this Meridian streamer modification and Farad Super3/Shunyata AC. Running it on a Triton V3 with Sigma XC.

My Farad Super 3 with Hifi Tuning fuse and upgraded Furutech IEC, level 2 copper DC cable, powering my melco switch.
I use v14D PC initially, then swap to a spare Delta v2 XC, the improvement is significant!

Kennyb123, thanks for the input on the cables. Which Audio Sensibility Statement cable do you use, the silver or copper? When I purchased the the Farad Super 3 I went with the level 2 copper. Do you think I would benefit by upgrading to the Audio Sensibility cable and if so which would be the best choice copper or silver going from the Farad to the EtherRegen? Thanks in advance

I also use a Level 2 copper between Super3 and EtherRegen. It’s between Super3 and Chord TT2 that I switched from Level 2 Copper to a Audio Sensibility Signature Silver. (I mistakenly said it was the Statement in my previous post). The Signature Silver was a significant step up after it burned in.

I have wondered if I would also get a significant upgrade if moving to the AS SS cable for the ER. Maybe someday I will get there but it hasn’t been a priority. I’ve lavished more care on the TT2/Super3 as it has an analog stage.

Kennyb123, thanks for the input on the AS silver cable. I think I am going to keep the Copper Level 2 from the Super 3 to the etherRegen for now.

I have been doing a lot of research on a 10mhz clock’s for the EtherRegen and decided to try the After Dark OCXO 10mhz master clock queen version for the EtherRegen with square wave and 75 ohm output. I have read good things about AD clocks and it seems to be a great value for the price. I also ordered the matching LPS with dual 12 voltage outputs, not sure how it will compare to my Farad Super 3 which I am very happy with its results.

So my next purchase from Shunyata will be a 75 ohm clock cable, to use on the external clock to the EtherRegen, will it matter which version of cable I choose, I am using a Omega Ethernet from the b side of the EtherRegen to my Roon nucleus+. Will I benefit from using a Omega 75 ohm clock cable to the EtherRegen? Or can I get away with a Sigma or Alpha.

As always any advice is greatly appreciated.

Richard... I would recommend the Sigma or Omega Clock cable. Alpha would be the weak link; buy it once and be done.
