Default Electrostatic speakers and power cords

I used to own Martin Logan's and I have a set of Quad 57s that have been rebuilt. It is a bit surprising but the power cord does make a difference with electrostats.

The power supply in the electrostats that creates the high voltage charge for the panels can be sensitive to noise. Therefore, a device that reduces power line noise is helpful. The current requirements to drive the sub-woofer amplifier adds the necessity for a high-current power cord.

At minimum I would recommend a good power cord with high-current capability for the MLs. The ΞTRON VIPER would be a good choice for performance at a reasonable price. The VENOM-HC would also work well at a lower cost.

If you have a separate duplex for each speaker, then it would be helpful to plug a VENOM DEFENDER into the second outlet for each speaker. This will provide a noticeable reduction in noise. Alternatively, you could use a HYDRA CYCLOPS into a single outlet but this requires a third power cord.

Just a follow up after a week of use with the Cyclops. The Cyclops/Triton combination, with Zytron Anaconda cables on each, continues to improve and impress. The music sounds effortless now, with the soundstage getting bigger and with more detail. I took today off from work so last night I was cranking it.

Since my rack with gear weighs 700 pounds I sometimes use it as a piece of exercise equipment to hold onto while twisting and turning to strengthen my lower back. Last night while blasting music I was on the floor in front of the rack, and I realized I was in the middle of the soundstage, and surrounded by music, front, back, and sides. That must have been there before the Cyclops, but I had never noticed it before. Perhaps the Cyclops helped more clearly define it.
