So I purchased another DEMO Black Mamba HC CX from MD and it arrived today. Can't wait to get home and plug it into the Luxman integrated

So I moved some gear around including the Hydra and plugged everything in and turned on the power. I had read somewhere that after moving gear and reapplying power it can take 23 hrs for the power supplies to settle down. Don't know if this is true but what did I have to loose? So I waited almost two days before settling in for a listening session with the power cord at their new assignments which are as follows:

VPI SAMA powered by PS Audio Statement
VPI SDS powered by MAC HC Soundpipe
Luxman L590AII powered by Shunyaya Black Mamba HC CX
Luxman D05 CDP powered by Shunyata Black Mamba CX
Shunyata Hydra 8 powered by Shunyata Python

So far I'm pretty pleased with what I'm getting and my initial feeling of the bass being weak has changed. I think I was simply not used to the bass being as snappy as it now is and I needed to let my ears adjust to the difference. So far lots of good detail, nice black background, and perhaps a deeper soundstage.

Don,
Nice to hear that the bass perfomance is more along the lines of meeting your requirements/sensibilities. I've always found an improvement from using the range of Shunyata products a notable improvement in bass definition, articulation, accuracy, and texture. And the black backgrounds are really where the gains are in many respects.

Another day I was doing a home try of previous Black Mamba (not CX) at Electrocompanied gear (AW250 & 4.8).
There was obsolutely no difference in comparison with 3$ power cords supplied by manufacturer.

So I'd wonder if there has been a CX vs non CX test done by anyone here and what the results are... Thanx

I don't have any experience with non-CX Black Mamba PCs, but I can assert that adding my Black Mamba CXs and HC CX resulted in considerable improvements over the excellent Venom3 and Diamondback-level series of molded Shunyata cords, and were significantly better than stock generic black IEC cords. One addition that was REALLY notable was when I put a Black Mamba on my EAR 324 phono stage...whoa!

I just purchased one Black Mamba CX and one Black Mamba HC/CX.

The HC one will no doubt go with my McIntosh MC252 amplifier. It needs the power.

But for the regular CX, is it better to plug on the source (McIntosh MCD301) or the preamplifier (McIntosh C220 or C2300)?
