Hey Puma,

Just bought a Planar 10/Apheta 3 as well. Frankly, I'm stunned at how good it is. Made a platform for it with the Ikea cutting board over IsoAcoustic footers. My phono pre is a c-j TEA1bc and on to the GAT and ART150S. Everything sounds crystal clear. The bass has surprisingly volume and is tight and deep. Sound images are better than My dCS DAC streaming Qobuz. Michael Fermer even likes this one. A really good value for the sound quality rendered. And, with Rega's included high quality cables, more money saved. Seems you don't need to buy turntables by the pound any more. While it was good right out of the box, it took some hours to break in the cart, maybe 25 or so.

Good luck with your review.
Bob

Hey Bob,
Yep, I am pretty stunned how good it is, too. How about that really "complicated" 10-minute setup?

Interestingly, I put it on an Ikea board with Norm Varney's EVP footers, so I would think our setups are very similar.

Thanks for the info on the cart run-in, that will be helpful.

Cheers and enjoy your Planar 10!

I agree, I listened to it all afternoon and I am really impressed with it.

If I were to purchase a Planar 10, I'd get it with the Apheta 3, spend all of 10 minutes setting it up, and call it a day. Job done!

And then just enjoy it making music.

Can you tell what is the VTF and anti-skating you use.
With my Planar 8 I use 1.9gr for VTF and 1.9 for anti-skating.
Thanks.

You probably didn't ask me but for reference... I started at 2 grams during break-in and dropped to 1.75. Tracking is still terrific.

Have been intrigued by the Planar 10 and its 'anti-mass' design idea. Looking forward to your review.

Yes, the Rega design brief is all about maximal torsional stiffness between main and tonearm bearings and reducing mass.
