Those dings are nasty...........I once witnessed an original red Amati have it's top front edge get damaged (not quite as bad as the two in this thread) when a dealer was taking them in as a trade. The owner had brought them in in the trunk of his car and it made contact with the trunk's locking mechanism. The dealer found a French polisher who did the repair for $200 and there was absolutely no way I could pick which speaker it was. A friend now owns them and when I mentioned this he leapt out of his chair to inspect them but just couldn't pick it either............mind you I did think that the repair charge of $200 was cheap as chips...........so it can be done!

I personally wouldn't touch it but that's just me as I want my gear in perfect condition. So although it obviously doesn't impact the performance in anyway shape or form I would always know it's there and it would bug the heck out of me.

Seems like the consensus is that it would be too much hassle. Gotcha. Always great to tap the minds of like-minded Aficionados.
This forum is awesome. |

A prof finisher would be even better and make it disappear. Definitely depreciates the value. When i sold the strads i took a hit even though i had repaired the chip as i was honest with the buyer in the description. It had absolutely no impact on how glorious they sound |

Well the guy decided against selling it... so it's a moot point now.
The hunt continues!! |
