I just added a preamp about 12 feet from the power amps and can't find trigger wire long enough.

Thanks, I though mono cable was more desirable for the trigger.

Ed.......If you are triggering McIntosh components, always use a stereo mini jack cable.

I've always just used a cheap high gauge speaker wire, what I have must be like 28 AWG or something like that, it's very thin. With speaker wire you can buy in spools of 100', perhaps more and just cut to the desired lengths.

I like Ivan's suggestion as well, I have never thought of doing that.

For Bryston gear that does not accept a mini jack, the Cat5 wire works fine. I have been using it for years.

Don't thy require a special plug that you wire to, then insert into what looks like a proprietary jack? What if the other component requires a mini plug. If you have a pic, that would be helpful.
