Default Toronto Audio Show

Some More feedback

The Bryston room was by far my favourite room of the show.

Second was the Focal/Devialet room which was playing Radiohead when I walked in. A very nice change from all the bad jazz-lite audio dealers seem to favour.

Disappointments were the Reference 3a room demoing the new Nefes. I didn't like their sound one bit and I own a pair of Episodes.

Some show feedback.

Ironically, I think that Bryston may have the best sound I heard this evening ...

Caught Ariel Ramirez's "Missa Criolla" and a bit of Patricia Barber when I was in there, and it sounded exceptionally well sorted out and coherent. (Model T's driven by 28b's and fully digital front end) I very seldom form judgements on the first day of show sound, but the Bryston room sure was working well.

Once again TAVES time has rolled around and as usual the Bryston room proved to be an oasis of good taste and great music.

The big difference this year was an all Bryston system featuring their over reaching flagship speaker the Model T. Not only was it the best sounding room but it also was one of the few rooms where you could relax, sit down and enjoy a great sounding system with zero pressure.

Congrats to the Bryston team for a fantastic job.

Re: TAVES 2013 (TORONTO AUDIO VIDEO ENTERTAINMENT SHOW)

Managed to stop in today at the Bryston room and had the pleasure of meeting James.

I was also very impressed with the Model T speaker's performance and detail - great product and they are definitely going to be "giant killers."

Be well...

BRYSTON - One of the best rooms at the show.

Away from all the snake oil.

Toronto Audio Show:

The speakers are what you'd expect from Bryston, IMO.

They don't really have a character - you hear precisely what was recorded.

Apparently this system was a big hit at the TAVIS Show>

MEMO: To All Bryston Customers
SUBJECT: Toronto Audio Show (TAVES) 2013

Hi everyone,

Had the pleasure of attending TAVES again this year.

The Bryston room was again excellent. Same room as last year - the large Kensignton room on the second floor - and Leonard Cohen was playing yet again!

Loved the sound.

Perfect show off of the midbass, with a strong, tuneful, clear and authoritative sound.

Mark

MEMO: To All Bryston Customers
SUBJECT: Bryston ‘Best of Show’ TAVES 2013

TAVES 2013
by Ken Choi | November 19, 2013

The other candidate for best sounding room at TAVES was Bryston’s.

Last year I noted the introduction of their Model T speakers and this year Bryston showed an expanded line of home-theater speakers. They demoed pretty much the same system as last year, however, anchored by a pair of the Model T's in an upgraded walnut finish that adds a thousand dollars to the base price.
These were driven by a pair of 28B SST˛ monoblocks and a BP26/MPS-2 preamp and power supply. Digital files were played off a thumb drive into a BDP-2 digital player/server that fed a BDA-2 external DAC.

The big difference this year was the room. Bryston showed in the same ballroom, but closed off half of the space. Unlike last year, the system was set up along the shorter wall and the resulting sound quality was leagues ahead of what it was before. In addition to an enveloping soundstage and precise imaging, a singer-songwriter track was presented with outstanding nuance and purity of tone. This came as a big surprise to this audio snob who has continued to associate Bryston mostly with pro-audio applications.

Both the Audio Pathways and Bryston rooms readily vie for "best of show" in terms of sound quality at TAVES, but such an appellation is so much a matter of taste that a proclamation like this is a little meaningless.
