The mic needs a 48V phantom power so you need a sound card with the phantom power to connect it to the Mac

I use the DAC input on my CD player (Accuphase dp-67) but you need to make sure that you are using the same sampling frequency along the chain. Otherwise you can connect the Mac straight on the pre amp.

I'm still learning a lot

Thank you very much. I'll get on this.

I see you're using a cheap DAC!

I just ordered the mic/usb adapter for the Mac and downloaded the REW software.

I'm curious to see how things measure.

-- George, excellent job in educating AudioAficionado members.

* There are few "experts" here; but give them time to find you.
{Me, I'm just no expert; even if I do have some of the knowledge, and tools.}

It's nice to see you here; you'll bring some good to the 'audio' table.

Excellent thread!

For those interested, we've actually put together a video on REW going through everything from downloading the program to taking your first measurement. You can check it out here: Room EQ Wizard Tutorial - GIK Acoustics

Anyone can feel free to post their graphs and/or .mdat files here and I'll have a look, post them in the views that I look at and give some ideas on what the results mean.

There is an excellent guide to understanding the REW graphs. The paper also establishes reference points for good vs. bad measurements. It won't tell you how to fix the problems, but it will point you in the right direction.

I'm unclear if a link or reference can be posted, so Google for

Yes, the paper was written by Jeff Hedback and Nyal Mellor. I don't know Nyal but Jeff is a great and knowledgeable guy. He wrote an article for us on our website about diffusion. The paper is pretty clear and informative for those first getting into it.

You can post links by the way - its just against forum rules to link to a different forum. Of course, this is just mostly forum courtesy, there's usually similar statutes on most forums.
