Default Speaking of science or fiction ...

Does anyone have experience to share about plugging an "audiophile grade passive components power conditioner" (such as a Shunyata Hydra or Running Springs conditioner) into a PurePower or other branded re-generator? TIA

I've spent a bit of time trying what you purpose and my findings was worse than my least favorite conditioner.....

I agree, not recommended.

Early last year I decided to visit the power conditioner part of my system again.....I think I've had more conditioners through my system than any other component in the past few years.....I must of had 10 or so conditioners on hand, power plant, equatech, RSA, purepower, Hydra, Furutech, iso clean and a few others but can't remember....I was at the point of finding something that didn't muck things up, not so much to piggy back them but I did try a few like power plant into my equatech, that was bad made the power plant buz and rattle, scared the crap out me!! also tried the RSA into the pure power, no buz but terrible loss of dynamics.....put the hydra on the purepower and only could hear the sonic flavor of the purepower. The most colored and artificial sound was from the Hydra by it self, everything sounds like its play in a gym!! I find there power cords sort of do the same thing.....I spent about a year with the equatech and it was good for sorces only, made my amps hum though.....The power plants covered up the dynamics big time with amps but not bad with sources, if you own one try unplugging from the wall and go direct you will hear what I'm saying.....Iso clean was a big waste of money, sounded like I was plugged directly into the wall......the Furutech was the same thing, didn't do much.....My favorites are the RSA and purepower.....lower noise floor, more dynamics with out sounding like someone turned up the tone controls, no tonal balance changing. This is no fan boy plug but just the facts for me. Good luck and happy listening!

If you have clean stable power don't waiste your money on a power conditioner. A regenerator's purpose is to maintain your line voltage at aprox. 120vac, once again if you have good power save your money. I feel it isnot a good idea to use these devices in tandem due to nasty interactions caused by AC reactance and it's effect on the AC line's power factor.

I'm not really familiar with the balanced power units such as the Equi-tech.

My experience with conditioners and amps is similar - the conditioner seems to time lag current draw and inhibit dynamics and general liveliness. Some manufacturers (Shunyata, Nordost) claim their newer products do not limit peak current. I have found conditioners can help upstream components though maybe with some tradeoffs - there always seem to be those pesky tradeoffs.

I don't know what re-generators do to address the component generated noise (power supply rectifiers, hi-speed clocks, etc.) that conditioners aim at. For a system blessed with relatively stable and clean wall power, the system itself becomes its own worst enemy.

It would seem a system could benefit from both types of devices but have not heard much from that direction. The manufacturers appear pretty well set with the approach and functionality of their respective devices. I wonder if there is something inherent in existing types of solutions that prevent them from working with one another; but I don't have the knowledge to gauge if that is or is not the case. On the other hand, maybe it is an issue (as in other areas of audio) of finding the right synergy between devices.
Conditioners/Regenerators and cables sort of fall in a catagory that seems so simple to me but can bring me the most fustration at times! go figure....
