Audioquest Mythical Creatures speaker cables
Anyone had any experience with the Mythical Creatures series of speaker cables or interconnects. I hear they are supposed to be the best AQ cables ever.

I have Dragon and Thunderbird speaker cables and Dragon is especially good. The corresponding power cables with the Dragon moniker are outstanding, too.
While I haven't heard Firebird power cables, my experience with other Audioquest power cables suggest that if you can afford it, get the Dragon power cables and the speaker cable of your liking. There are frequently a bunch of used Dragon PC's on Audiogon if you can't audition any. Between Dragon and Thunderbird, one is silver/copper and the other is all copper. I think Thunderbird is decent though I'm not sure it isn't overpriced at retail. I could be happy with Dragon as they seem somehow tailored to be more musical and neutral with full, robust, bass. How that's possible when the designs seem otherwise the same, I don't know. If they work in your system, they can be very enjoyable and you won't want for much else. Interconnects in the mythical creatures series aren't out and aren't listed on the website as of yet. I'm not sure whether they are available to order yet. I own some WEL interconnects and they are phenomenal but can sound a bit cool, tonally, depending on your system. But the absence of background noise and the subtle details one can hear are top level to me. That said, I'm not currently using WEL interconnects because of the tone in my system. Based on what Audioquest did with Dragon, I think that might be an area that they address. I look forward to hearing them. Also, if purchasing, consider shopping around at a few dealers. You might find some may make a purchase more appealing than others.

I'm being sent a pair of both the RCA and XLR terminated pairs of the new Firebird interconnects by Audioquest for my input back to them. I'll let ya guys know what I think.

Yup, no worries. I don't even know when they're going to send them.

That will be interesting reading. I have heard from dealers that swear the new interconnects are game changers.

Agree about the WEL Signature interconnects being on the neutral/cool side of things tonally. The older Sky and original WBY models were warmer, but of course the WELs are more detailed and dynamic.
I also run a double-run biwire of 6ft AQ Kilimanjaro (PSS Silver) - which basically mimics the WEL Signature biwire SC's composition, gauge, and geometry. It's fantastic! I stupidly tried a 10ft run of Thunderbird Zero SC (no biwire, all PSC+ copper) that was available, to see how far AQ has come. Quite frankly it fell completely flat compared to the shorter Kilimanjaro double run. Conclusions: I need to stick to a shorter run (I have monoblocks), I absolutely need to biwire, and I suspect I require at least some silver in the mix. The new line probably needs to be biwired (Zero + Bass) to really impress (perhaps the Dragon Zero is good enough on its own). My speakers are Tannoy Canterbury, which always respond to biwiring. I have WEL single biwire speaker cable. No complaints. No desire to try the new gen.

I'm presently using an inexpensive pair of Analysis Plus Black Oval 9 SCs to connect my Diablo 300 to my Magico S3 MkII's. I've tried several more expensive offerings including AQ Thunderbirds. I thought these were marginally better but not by enough to justify the spend. Still looking.
