The next best thing is 45rpm records. The Dean Martin is available on that format.
IMHO it's the only thing that comes close. 55 dollars at Acoustic Sounds.... |

Not sure what Janis Ian's Breaking Silence your thinking of, 12 songs make 2 reels at 15ips and blows 20000tables out of the water..

The 12 songs consume a few seconds shy of 49 minutes. That's over $9.00 a minute, or approximately $27.50 for the first 3:05 song. I am not disparaging those who wish to participate, just making an observation.

The Tape Project has been doing something similar for years with success. I agree it's definitely niche within a niche (maybe in another niche too) type stuff, but very cool. Something I'll never get into, but nice to see this sort of thing being made available in this day and age. There are some interesting R2R products out there these days.
