Yes, it is rather "busy" isn't it?

One thing I am getting from it though, is that there is no option of going from my MM2 generation Ref i/c to Ref Gen 5. I have to go up a level to Ref XL Gen 5.

I'm not sure, but that was probably also the case in the past, but now there is a huge jump in cost, which unfortunately puts Gen V beyond what I'm prepared to pay.

My other Transparent cable is a power cord, 2 gens old, cost about $500 (can't remember the name). So I'm hoping that the cost to change to Gen 5 will be more reasonable at that lower price point. Assuming that Gen V is eventually phased to all levels.

And now I'm planning a move from my apartment to a house in two weeks, so I was planning to have the new cables installed then, at which time he'll also install Stillpoints and recalibrate the Alexias. I can't wait. I'm actually moving from my beloved apartment home of the last six years to a much larger single family detached home -- just so I can let the Alexias breathe, and I can crank the volume. I guess you could ask your local dealer, but I think you may benefit from the Transparent Audio trade-in program which allows a 70% trade-in price on the Reference level-MM2 technology (may be till the end of 2014 and then 60% in 2015).

I recently acquired Opus MM2 speakers cables in an 8-foot length. If I wanted to upgrade to the new top of the line speaker cable in the same length, what value would I be given for the trade?

In order for your Opus MM2 to qualify for the trade up program it would had to have been purchased from an authorized Transparent dealer or purchased on the used market and then factory certified under their new factory certification program.

I just had my Reference MM MM2's factory certified & calibrated. Now they are eligible for their trade up program.

Hope this helps.

Well I decided to pull the trigger and get a used pair of Opus MM2 XLRs for the run between my D'Agostino pre and amps. My dealer is sending them back to Transparent to have them 1) tuned for my gear and 2) updated to Opus Gen 5. I will probably send by speaker cable early next year when I am on vacation for two weeks to have those updated to Gen 5 also.

I'm almost afraid to ask; how do they upgrade a cable?

+1

Also I find it absurd they charge extra and so much extra for balanced cables.
