It looks to me like Mat at VPI is doing everything he can to correct issues brought up in this thread. Some credit must be given for his efforts and desire to make his customers happy.

As a vinyl newb, about to get into vinyl for the very first time, I can say that VPI is still on my short list of manufacturers. Hope to get something this summer! Yea me!

I got my Scout 1.1 a couple of months ago and it is a terrific table.

I am on the cusp of buying a VPI - this topic was well read by me many times and the way Matt has taken charge has now solidified my decision.

Things got off to a rocky start w/me, but Mat did reach out to me on the phone a couple times, I was super busy at work so I was never able to get in touch w/him, but the problem was resolved. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend VPI despite my initial frustrations and feeling of being given the run around when I received a non-functional TT.

I don't know how true this is at current day, or if it has ever been done, but......
One time in a short email convo with Harry W, and in regards to the Classic, or other VPI Tables, he said that such could be special ordered with no Tonearm. And this could of course open up a lot of avenues. With a custom one-off to your liking? Meaning, you like Origin Live? SME? Jelco? Shroder? Etc? What I'm not sure of, is if you have a specific Arm in mind, provide the Mounting Specs, and then will VPI will drill the Plinth, or does the end user find a competent machinist their end to do the drilling? |
