Default SIG 516 or 556?

Thinking of adding to the collection another AR15 rifle. Anyone familiar with the SIG 516 vs 556? What are the differences? Which one to go with?

I think the SIG516 Precision Marksman is interesting:

If you're interested in a gun for standing shooting or moving tactical competitions and the like, I'd skip the heavy quad rail and go with the plastic of the Sig556 Classic.

My Ruger SR-556 has a heavy quad rail. A friend has the Sig556 Classic. The Sig556 Classic is far less barrel heavy than the Ruger SR-556 and is much easier to shoot standing. On the other hand, my Ruger SR-556 is nice for bench shooting due to much less muzzle rise between shots (easy to repeat fairly rapid shots from the bench into a 5" circle at 200yards).

I suspect you'd see similar differences within the Sig line. If you're interested in a bench king, I'd go for the Sig-516 precision marksman.

Here's a shot of the Ruger:

Another thought, do either Sig guns have standard AR-15 uppers and lowers?

I don't believe the Sig556 has standard upper/lower forms. This defeats the interchangeability/customizability, which to me is part of the point of an AR-15 style gun.

Instead of another AR15, may want to consider going with this-
Kriss .45 ACP
Available in rifle or pistol

Do you have specific use in mind for the gun? The problem with piston operated guns is they require model/mfgr specific parts should you ever have a need. With a generic AR gas gun about any makers parts will work. Last I read the military is sticking with the direct-impingement gas guns for 5.56.
