I like the fact you have combined the L300 with an accuphase piece. Would be interesting to compare that with a MC152 and a C2500 or C-50. For Vintage I would pick a 7100 or 7200 with a terry Dewick C-28. C-28 were very warm and nice and a 7100 could control that woofer. IF YOU NEED MORE POWER, how about a 7200?

My perfect dream team would the C22/MC75 60th Anniversary & MR88/MR87. Although they are rated as 75 watts mono per channel, think they can easily pump out 100. with the high efficiency of the L300's, would definitely suffice in normal 400-500 square feet listening space. McIntosh source gears will give the complete blue/green look in the dark. Charming ...

For vintage, I would choose from DeWick's stable the C26 & MC2105 & MR77. Same year, same look ...

I am looking forward to one as nice as Ivan's. Hopefully, my patience will pay off.

Am wondering why you would pick two vintage McIntosh amps without autoformers, which has pretty much been the McIntosh design signature to this day on solid-state amps?
To my ears, the MC7150 or MC2125 would be the way to go if going solid state. However, I would use tubes and the MC75 monoblocks or MC275MkIV or newer would be the way to go with the L300s. Maybe a rebuilt pair of MC60s. New C22 would likely work well. C28 would be one of my last choices unless thoroughly gone thru by Terry or someone to get rid of the many problems they generally have (grounds, volume pot, etc.). The C29 is a better choice if going vintage solid-state McIntosh. Easy to upgrade to modern audio op-amps.

Well I'm 61 now so I grew up back when JBL's and Altec's were popular. Sadly I never owned an L300 but my best friend did. Very nice speakers back in the day. At the same time frame I owned a pair of Altec Model 19's. They were nice and very nice looking speaker but Altec ran those 16 inch woofers up too high to meet the horns. Mine would play louder than my friends L300's but his went a little lower in the bass with little bit better midrange.

Miss those olden days.
