I had to take the XP-12 out of the running because it only had one balanced XLR output. Just got back from picking up the BP17 from the dealer. He said that the Bryston would have a different sound than the Cary I was using.

The fixed (non-mutable) balanced output and mute button does much the same thing excepting the power amp is on if you are using the trigger function to control the power amp instead of the front panel switch. I do not often use headphones, so this works well for me - not as flexible as the McIntosh though.

I have just started using this two output setup with my McIntosh C 1100. It's well thought out. I also use the C 1100 with an MX 151 in passthru mode. Even if both Output 1 and 2 are OFF, passthrough turns on the amps with the trigger control and enables Output 1 while leaving output 2 off. Somebody at McIntosh gave this a lot of thought.

I've been really listening to headphones a lot more since the MHA 200 arrived.

That's too bad. I was hoping to read your thoughts on the XP-12 as I'm thinking XP-12/XA-25 or INT-25. The XP-12 would provide additional in/out connections, though I'm not sure I need them.
