The improvement is significant in the sense that the Mye Stands hold the panels in a more robust way than the stock feet can. For example, as I removed the oval stands, it became clear that the stock fasteners were not holding the panels very well and some of the screws were somewhat loose. More importantly, the Mye Stands have two brackets that attach to the 20.7 panel 5 feet up from the bottom thus creating a very rigid structure and keeping the panel from flexing like it was able to do before. Below is a picture from the Mye Stands website showing what I mean. I cannot listen to my system loudly enough this weekend to make a full evaluation, but from what I can hear so far the added rigidity results in better transparency, less smearing and tighter bass. These findings make sense to me in light of the added rigidity and I'm very happy with the upgrade. Grant will send me longer round points so I can experiment with a configuration that will lift the panel off the ground a little more. He said my kit was the first one he ever did with a stealth/round point combo and he felt the points might be a little too short for the stealth configuration. Anyone ever try vibration monitor programs on their smart phones like this one (this one happens to be free): https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ion.monitoring
I have tried this and many others. Bottom Line: When I activate the program (many have vibration alarms) and place the phone on top of either Magenpan 20.7 (playing at >=90db), the program detects no vibration (no alarm). Perhaps Wendell and the boys at Magnepan realize this and they deem the stock stands (like mine - metal feet, not oval) good enough. Last edited by russell; 03-02-2014 at 08:17 PM. |

I figured that after spending almost $14,000 on these speakers why not invest another few hundred bucks on an after-market design that makes mechanical sense. Little downside risk and good upside. That was my logic.

Regarding my simple test using a vibration detector app and my Nexus 5, I was actually disappointed to see no vibration. In other words, I once again have to spend money on others subjective opinions. I just wanted to see the proof. Perhaps I trust my eyes...or maybe it's my brain. Regardless, no vibration detected using the stock stands. |

I read some of your other posts and saw that you prefer running your system without a preamp. Same here. I had an ARC tube line stage before but I sold it and now I'm enjoying the more direct connection. I can't even remember how long I've been without the preamp and I'm not missing it. |
