Yes. Great caliber... harder to get good loads for. Not very popular.

Owned and operated a high end gun shop in NC for many years.

Outfitted about 150 African Shooters.

We shot all of the guns in for customers, did all scope work, loading, etc.

In addition to modern bolt rifles (Rem, Ruger, Weatherby,)we sold a lot of vintage English Double Guns,(Purdey, H&H, Westley Richards) as well as NEW Kreighoff double guns... Probably the most reliable and accurate gun I ever sent to Africa.

Many of our customers went several times a year. A couple of customers would go 4 times per year. One customer would go 8-10 times per year.

any experience with Meopta scopes I havea Schmidt and Bender now but i have heard good stuff about them

No experience with Meopta... S&B makes great scopes as does Swarovski and Zeiss.


No wrong answer amongst those three.

With Buffalo more so than other dangerous game, you will be rewarded by a carefully placed, accurate shot.

Your best shot is likely to be a greater distance, and accuracy will serve you here.

Almost everyone flinches with the uber heavy calibers.
