Jacques,

I don't know if you have discovered, but there is a whole sub-forum here on AA that is dedicated to classical music,
and most of the folks who regularly play classical music post there, and are very helpful in answering questions like yours.

I personally don't know the answer to that particular piece by Saint Saens, but I'll bet that some of the classical music buffs would be able to make a recommendation for you.

Your fellow countryman - Bart, also from Belgium - could possibly help as could a number of others.

The classical forum is Classical Music Discussion - AudioAficionado.org

And the thread where most of the posts reside is at http://www.audioaficionado.org/class...tml#post336346

Your question indicates that you might be interested in classical music, and we would welcome you to the classical forum with open arms.

Come on over! If you should ask your question in the Classical Music Thread, you would probably be covered up with answers.

Julian

Jacques,

I second Julian's suggestion that you consider visiting us over on the classical music thread. A veritable treasure trove of recommendations, experience, and knowledge.

That said, if I had to buy only one recording of Danse Macabre, it would be this one (which is in fact the one I bought - uncoincidentally )

I was always partial to the Martinon recording on Decca. Plus in glorious Decca sound. Sure it's been released on CD.
