CZ makes some very nice rifles. Have had their 452 Trainer and 453 American rimfire rifles and their 527 American in .223R. All were excellent rifles, as am sure your 550 will be. Which begs the question......... what are you hunting? Brown bear in NA or headed to Africa for dangerous game? That's a big round.

Here's a decent write-up on your choice:
.404 jeffery

And I'm trying to figure out if I want a 6.5-06 in my hunting rifle (high speed, high SD).

I don't have a CZ rifle, yet have heard only good things about them.

I believe it, I have five CZ hand guns, all well built and accurate.

My CZ is a little .22. It's a 452 with a heavy bull barrel.

Since it is a small cartridge gun, I have an inexpensive Tasco. For me, there wasn't a need for an more expensive scope on a gun with no recoil.

The wood is fantastic on this gun. The wood is quilted Walnut.

Recoil is only one reason for a good scope. The primary reason for me is repeatable tracking, especially if shooting competition. If it is a 1/4 MOA click it should move 1/4 MOA and back. Takes a good scope to do that. The early Tasco's made in Japan were/are good scopes. I use a 36x for rimfire benchrest.

Sounds like a neat gun! I have a 375 and 416. Love the 375 H&H but the 416 Remington is just too much gun for me...

The 404 Jeffery sounds like a great blend! I'd just want a decent choice of loads.

Good Luck!

Some serious game deserves a serious rifle and a good PH for back-up. Elk and moose are about my limit.
