I use one that a neighbor was throwing out when they moved. Works just fine for my needs.

I use this one with great results...Left side is propane powered...Right side is charcoal, with a side burner which I rarely use.

Char-Griller 3-burner 40,800BTU, side burner 12,000BTU

I recently moved from an offset box to a Weber Smokey Mountain. Prior to my first use, I put on some wheels, a hinge kit, gasket kit and a BBQ Guru fan/ controller. It is by far the easiest smoker I've ever owned. I recommend this with enthusiasm. image-3602807387.jpg image-595100480.jpg image-317028366.jpg
For grilling I have my Weber

We use gas as a backup and have a big Weber for that. It does a good job in a pinch but it's just not the same as the heat and flavor of good hot-burning hardwoods properly mixed for flavor.!

I think I'm going to love this forum,...music, stereo gear, grilling, smoking (food as well as cigars, etc...) Very dangerous place I think; is meant to indulge all my vices <LOL>!

On a more serious note....my old smoker/wood grill combo gave up the ghost recently and finally developed internal rust flaking, etc...that could not be wire-brushed, sanded and dealt with, SO....as of last week, this Old Country BBQ (best of Texas!) "Brazos" multi-hundred pound 1/2" thick welded steel beast has shown up to take up the duty. It can do full offset smoking as well as indirect heat/medium-high smoking and full-on grilling with smoke immersion (closing the cover & by volume). I use various hardwood blends that I put together depending upon meat, seafood and/or veggies involved.

Big green egg, and a fire magic (natural gas). Use them all the time.

I think Texans know very well how to smoke and grill steaks, etc.

I love firewood too.
