Meet Guido Tent and Eelco Grimm, the people behind the innovative brand Grimm Audio and the excellent MU 1

It is a long talk...but it touches on many technical topics.

Default Installing the Grimm MU1!

The Grimm MU1 I ordered July 21 arrived sooner than I hoped.
It was installed 9 days ago, and has been playing wonderfully ever since.

Dutch are sober, practical people, so don't expect fancy metal cases, or wooden boxes.

As Jacques stated, it is a pity this expensive thing has no remote, but then again, you only need to touch it when you choose another input, which I haven't done much yet (playing via Roon).
This is the button you press lightly and then turn:

My Burmester is connected with a Siltech coaxial digital cable to the Grimm.
The Grimm sends it glorious bits to the Hegel via a top of the line Furutech Digiflux AES cable (with adaptor to coax).

Future updates will bring multichannel capability and FM.

The Grimm came with a couple of albums already loaded on its 4 Tb SSD.
This trptk album in 32/352.8 DXD for example.

The Grimm downsamples it to 24/176.4:

When the Hegel will - at last - be a Roon endpoint, I'll be able to stream the native WAV file to it, to benefit fully from the floating bit DXD stream.

A Silent Angel Bonn N8 Ethernet Switch was also installed.

Default Result

The best digital we've had so far in our living room.
And this by a wide margin.
It is quite addictive.
We're drawn deeper into the music.
It's depriving us from our sleep.
Do we still need that Netflix subscription?!
