Ooohhhh...sweet!! That would have been a dream system in those days. In fact, it still is!

The one I have now, a Sony XDR-F1HD.

I only occasionally listen to local radio anymore, it works for me.

Marantz (don't recall when I got the model, sometime in the mid 70's, and I just loved gazing at all the pretty lights !)

Carver TX-11a; it really did have the best sounding AM tuner I've ever heard.

That was replaced by a Magnum Dynalab FT-101, and the MD was replaced by a Sony XDRF1HD.

Ironically, I just picked up a used TX-11 (FM only) off eBay a few months ago where it serves yeoman duty as a tuner feeding an Internet stream for a local radio station.

Default First Stand Alone Tuner

Geez this was long ago in the 90s. I think the first one was the NAD 4155. I still have it. It has the Schotz Tuner circuitry.

I replaced it a couple years later with a Carver TX-2 with the multi-path signal issues in my immediate area it did better. The NAD was moved into the bedroom when I setup a second system. I bought both of these at the second hand audio store.
