Maybe two versions, same chassis. A CD transport with an optional DAC built in? Would it be possible to add the current BDA-2 into a CD transport chassis, but maybe with fewer inputs to save space? If you could design it that way, it'd save on parts and give buyers the option for a transport only or a full player with DAC capability.

Would this be in lieu of the proposed BOT-1 transport, James? The convenience of easily ripping CDs to a drive in the BDP-2 is a compelling feature, and if the CD player did so, that would be a plus. As stated above, SACD (and DVD-A) would be beneficial as well.

If Bryston offered a product like the BCD-1 again I don't think there would be any issue with demand.

Build it and they will come
Build the player, there are those of us who relish the process of touching and loading a disc, the tactile experience, owning and possessing finite media. I have heard many server "type" systems and found the claim of better sound from high rez files questionable at best.

Build it with SACD and DVD-A . I'll still prefer the BDP. There are some disc I still play with my BCD-1 going balanced to the BHA but if I'm listening to speakers the BCD-1 is playing through the BDA-2.

No from me, however I would be interested in a turntable if it's priced under $1k.

I do not think I would attempt a turntable. There are so many mechanical issues and I would assume a huge learning curve. I think I will leave the turntable to the experts. james |

I might be interested if it was also a SACD player. No need for DVD-A or Blu-ray Audio as those discs are fundamentally video discs so leave those to other players. The catch for me though is it would have to handle both stereo and multi-channel SACD with 5.1 analog outs as I wouldn't expect a HDMI interface be added to digitally get the surround out.
