Hey hrparsons, the front panel control will be in the full position when used as a basic stereo amplifier.
To operate from a direct source without a preamplifier one may use the front panel level control to adjust the listening level.

No I was asking about the tube because one of the first pictures shows a small tube and I was wondering if Dennis made a change to the 80 tube
