If you choose AV Pure Direct on the Mcintosh Blu Ray (Running separate cables to video source and MX150) you'll get video but no audio. If you switch HDMI inputs on your video source then you get audio. The good thing is that is problem is fixable via firmware.
I CAN try this tomorrow

So, i try from my panasonic player (i don't have Mcintosh bluray player) and is the same :

If i send only audio from hdmi, i need to have also video input in this hdmi and or course, we can't because isn't 1.4 available for 3D, the simple, very simple solution need to come from a new firmware for can choise hdmi input in audio only !... Like every ampli from $200 !

I am dreaming of getting an MX-150 someday to upgrade from my C-39.
I might have to go by way of the lottery though.

then, after discussion with a French colleague also owns a MX150, it can select an entry while having no HDMI output HDMI up.

Let me explain a bit better: when I select for example which is on my bluray enter HDMI 1 and I disconnected the HDMI cable from the HDMI out of the MX150, I have all the billboard that flashes and I have no sound coming out.

So the problem is not from my player Panasonic o denon but the MX150 because my French colleague has done the test today and it has the sound even though it has removed the HDMI cable from the HDMI output of the MX150.

I therefore seems there a problem with my MX150, and I wonder if other matches are the same, disconnecting the HDMI cable from the HDMI OUT, you have your sound or flashing billboard ?

Many thanks for your help.

This is probably a firmware issue as i may have a related issue.

Currently have a PS3 connected to the MX150 via HDMI and then connected to my Plasma TV also connected via HDMI.

Whenever i turn off the plasma when listening to music or a video the audio from the PS3 immediately gets cut out. On the MX150 status display there is no input signal and the connection is severed. If I turn the Plasma back on the connection would be restored and the music playing. You would think the connection from the PS3 to the MX150 would be retained if one didn't want to have the video device on but it does not. An obvious issue i think.

I wonder when MAC will be releasing a new firmware as the last one is approaching almost a year old? We also know software never stands still. There has to be some refinements or bugs they need to address.

This is definitely a software issue. I spoke with Chuck Hinton the other day about this and he told me he would pass down the problem to the engineers for a fix. Hopefully they will release it soon. Probably if more people will call or email him, they could release it faster.

I spoke, today, with the chief engineer of McIntosh. I mentioned the issue and he stated that there is not and would not be a fix for this issue.
