QB-9 Upgrade
Is anyone planning on the new upgrade to the QB-9?

I plan on upgrading, but I'll probably wait a while before doing. I don't have any DSD music yet, and Charles Hansen says that the wait for the upgrade may be quite long and I'd rather not be without my QB-9 for any extended period of time.

I believe the QB9 uses a burrbrown 1795 which is already DSD capable. Changing the DAC chip would change the sound too much.
I just got a TEAC UD 501 using this chip and its doing DSD 128 and even 32/384!! That's even higher than my Playback MPS5!!

I have had it upgraded already some weeks ago. Have a very good relationship with my dealer and they have upgraded my QB9 for free as soon as they got the new circuit board from the factory.
I feel it sounds slightly better.

Fantastic dealer, Adam.
This friendly attitude and focus on the client is also a smart move business wise. In many occasions, when I'm considering a product they distribute vs a product distributed by another dealer, the relationship plays a role, and not a minor one, in my decision. I guess they understand that audiophiles are long term customers - the dealer doesn't have to make money on every single opportunity.
