Default Mantle Clocks

I recently built two of these Arts and Crafts style mantle clocks, the one on the left is mine and the other was commissioned by a buddy as a anniversary gift. Both are made from quarter sawn white oak and what most assume is stained glass is actually a hand made ceramic tile, tile not made by me.

Beautiful work! I see more commissions coming! I'd love one of those.

Can you comment a bit on the finish? At first glance I would not have guessed these were constructed from white oak.

Beautiful work!

Thanks Mike,

You are correct they are quarter sawn white oak with a water based dye stain from General Finishes and top coated with Shellac. The dye stain from GF gives greater color clarity than stains from companies like minwax. This color is a mixture of two dyes, 2 parts orange to 1 part medium brown.
