Default Boulder 812

This soon to be released product is checking all of the boxes for me. I recently confirmed a $8850 price and expected shipping of late April. Network, ROON endpoint, UPnP, DAC, and pre-amplifier. Plus 2 sets of balanced analog inputs.

Looks great. A competitor to the Bryston BR20 streamer/pre-amp. Looks like the Boulder will require a separate phono stage whereas the Bryston offers an internal modular unit.

Having a phono pre-amp handling low voltage signals in there might be pushing it too much. When I get to phono, I am thinking to add the Boulder 508. At these price points, I will only purchase a US designed and manufactured product. I also want the option for a moving coil cartridge.

Definitely want to hear the 812 when it comes out. Checking all the boxes and Boulder product no less. Price will be near the Chord Hugo TT2 with M Upscaler and want to hear that too!

I listened to Audiophyle Style Podcast featuring Boulder and the Boulder Reps said they will also have an 800 series 50W stereo amp that will pair up with the 812. These two boxes could make for a very good 2 channel office system (or even main system) with some Wilson Tune Tot's or other speakers of the like.

Anyone hear anything on expected release date for the 812?

I also wonder how it would stack up against the Mola Mola Tambaqui…

DaveM, thanks for your post. I did read the product details from my dealer. I so much wanted to buy this product months ago (recall they had posted a version on their website but pulled it down and just now re-introduced it). BUT I really miss the volume display on my 866. Wish they would have been able to put it on the 812. I won't be buying it because of that (and also the significant headphone capabilities which I won't use).

I had the opportunity for a quick listen yesterday at a local dealer in Melbourne to the 812 driving a Pass labs XA30.8 into AudioVector R8 speakers. Very impressive I must say.

I would be keen to hear any comments from anyone who has an 812, initial impressions?
