Mac c2600 to Luxman C900U. Actually now that I think about it I have switched back and forth many times. Tube preamps include Melos, CJ PV5 and ET5. Audio is a journey.

Any particular reason you went back to SS? Did you also have a tube amplifier in any of the switches?

Best case, I hope you can listen for yourself, then decide. Since you prefer the tube power amp, I expect you'll like the tube pre best. If you cannot listen before buying, I'd jump on the C2700.

Good luck!
Thanks! Yes, I wish I could also give all the units a listen but only one dealer near me and none are available. Was only able to listen to a C49 with a SS amp. I am assuming the C49 will sound the same as the C53 but not sure.
Do you use a DAC with your C22?

I thought I would try the 2300 to see if I enjoyed tubes any more than the C-J gear I had many years ago. SS just appeals to me more in the long run.

I use a C500P with 2301s and love it. Super quiet and still has blossom. It’s really a preference thing. Of had C500T also but found it to be noisy (still sounded great tho). For vinyl, c500p was flat until I adjusted the mc cartridge gain— then it sounded identical with no noise.

Yes, I have a Yggy, which I owned prior to choosing the pre. I did not do a listening comparison of DA1 to Yggy, but relied on Schiit's stronger DAC reputation and that I already owned the Yggy. It's been a great combination. If memory serves, C22 plus Yggy is just a bit more expensive than C2700

I was looking at a similar option if I went with the C22. Was thinking I could add the Modius and Lokius to the C22.

Thanks to everyone for replies. I think I have removed the C8 from list. Maybe I shouldn't but can't seem to find anyone that has any listening experience with it.
So focusing in on the C53/C2700/C22. On my other system, I currently use a MAC4100 and leverage the EQ. Just not sure if EQ makes sense with the tube options.

So take a risk and learn. Worst case you buy something you replace with something you like better and sell your old gear to some lucky person on the forum. Yeah, it costs money so do your research— but when you get it right it feels so gooooooood
