$2500 will get you a nice 4B-SST but it may be overkill. Have you considered getting a 5B or step up to the 6B and run the front 3 channels?

The 5B can bridge 2 of its channels (via a switch) which may suit your needs for now but give you flexibility to add more channels (7.1?) later. It also came with a Lexicon badge (312 THX) which are identical internally but go for less.

My first foray into hi-end audio was a Bryston 2BLP. It ran hot when I used 4 ohm speakers. It was outclassed by a Simaudio W3. Look for a used one, but may be difficult to find.

Kevin - like you, my first high-end separates system was a pair of 2B-LPs running as monoblocks with 4-ohm speakers. Terrific amp.

6B is a great option. I have a 6B that runs my HTM1 and my rear speakers. I toyed with a 7b for the centre and going with 4bsst for the rears, but that adds up to a lot of amps in my room. I’m using 28B3 for my mains. Also running another Bryston amp to run my outdoor speakers.

6B will provide more then 300 watts into 8 ohms and over 500 into 4.

The Bryston 6B is something I definitely need to look into. Thanks for the words, fellas.

Bryston 6B only available up to SST2 version. Cubed version from what heard will not be built.

Please refresh my memory...Is the "cubed" version the type that takes individual amp modules (with independent power supplies)?

No the Cubed is Bryston’s latest circuit design which comes after SST2 and is most expensive (e.g. $7000 for a 4B3) which is why I did not suggest it.

6B and 9B are modular. The latter can be Cubed as well, but doesn’t come cheap.

5B, 8B are much older designs (stopping with the ST series I think) but a bargain on the used market.

Here in Ontario, 6B’s have come up in used market regularly. $3-3,500
