That "misalignment" would bother me greatly, but maybe I am a bit to sensitive to these mathers, I have used a digital level with my YG Hailey's (below 0,05 degrees in all directions) and a laser tool to adjust the tweeter height.

There are many "specialists" that place the speakers in a room purely by listening, but in my room and my system I am getting the best result by placing the speakers by ear to get the best performance in the low frequencies and then finetune by leveling and perfectly aiming (placing) the speakers at the listening position.

Have to say that the Hailey's are pleasure to work with, with 1 spike in front makes it a lot easier to adjust the toe in.

A 1 degree misalignment is almost 70mm at 4 meters

First of all, I thank you so much for pointing all this out. I think YG Acoustics and its original owner were/are onto something by heavy reliance on measurements, less so on listening. Why? Because I know my hearing varries from day to day and morning to evening. My ears are more sensitive in the morning than late at night.

Also, while I think carbon fiber useful in speaker construction I know from conversations with a friend of mine at YG that they continue to believe aluminum the ultimate cabinet material.

In regard to your excellent point, I believe if I could achieve a better straight down shot, it would demonstrate less than a degree of misalignment. I can't get the camera in safely to accomplish this.

What I wanted to demonstrate was that any amount of skew alters the bubble in regard to the circle. I can't get a straight across straight down shot. The skew is slightly from back to front and if the bubble were in the exact center, I would expect a slight displacement to the rear based on the skew and this is what the pics show.

I can tell you the speakers are level with the floor and I believe within .5 degree of level. I appreciate Marc's concern. I'm going to keep a close watch on my floor and the bubble.

Best

Charles

69.8096 mm, but who’s splitting hairs?

Lots of good info - time alignment is absolutely critical and it pays to check your system as it settles in. The floors in our Colorado home change depending on humidity and temperature.

I hear you. One of the things I like about Wilsons is their relatively foolproof method of adjustment. It comes down to on axis listening where the tweeters are aimed at my ears (not my face). Nevertheless, Wilsons have a sweet spot that extends about one seat to the left or right of center.

Best

Charles

In the circle should be good to go.

Hopefully you won't have to hold your head steady to within 68 mm to enjoy the Wilsons !

I think it is the first step in the Wilson method to align the drivers correctly, in my view it should not be that difficult to get the bubble perfectly centered. It has nothing to do with the sweet spot in my opinion.
It is important to get the drivers phase aligned as good as possible to have the best performance of the speakers.

Accuracy only matters with Horseshoes and Hand Grenades.
