Are these fancy ‘thicker than a baby’s arm’ boutique power cords UL or CSA certified? I’m not sure, but expect not, because all but the largest manufacturer’s don’t have the resources to pull it off.

I've seen this with even stock powercords that came with some amplifiers and power conditioners OOTB. Smaller manufacturers...

As an aside, UL Certification is not required uniformally legally in the US on all devices if I understand what I've read correctly.

It gets a bit convoluted (to say the least) when it comes to agency approvals, but there is no agency approval for audio gear that I know of. There are certain cities, counties and states that require certain requirements, but audio gear is probably far from their scope of concern or purview.

Guy sells home, leaves Power Ports in wall. Carpet cleaning company plugs 20A cord into said outlets, machine draws 23A ( takes 30 to open the 15A breaker ), overheats 14AWG wiring in the wall ... fire ensues.

This is why code exists folks. For the safety of us and others.. Any encouraging an audio enthusiast to ignore it for such a trivial benefit is really seriously bad advice on your part.
