I’m running stereo triggers to my MC275VI. No problems here.

Does anyone know if I have to use mono 1/8" cables only, or will stereo work as well. I read somewhere that if you use stereo where the trigger is not designed for it it could damage your system. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks and stay safe.

Stereo 1/8” cables. Daisy chain power out trigger from C1100 to 1st 2301 power in trigger, then power out trigger of 1st 2301 to power in trigger of second 2301. This properly sequences the 2301 turn-on.

That's exactly what I did from my C2600 to my MC2301's. Bought a 6' and a 25' from Amazon for $15 for the pair. They work great

That's great, thank you all for the info. Very helpful. Hopefully I'll confirm the sale with the dealer later today. Stay safe.

Dan great review on tube rolling. Im on path to bi amp 2301s with the mc1,25kw on a ser of bowers 800 matrix.(the pointy cabinet ones). Im going into unknown territory with balance and gain. The idea is ro run the ss amos on bass bins and 2301s on mid and tweeter. Its a 4ohm speaker but understand that it can vary. I dont want the midrange to be overpowered by these power hungry speakers. I know the recommended power relation is 2 to 1 as found in the mc901s. With your experience do you think the 2301s will keep up and playing with the different ohm taps can yield a more balanced gain? I dont want to use a active crossover to balance.

The gain of the MC 2301 is 23.17 dB.
The gain of the MC 1.25kw is 26.19 dB.
That’s a 3.0 dB difference.
The difference in gain from 2 Ohm to 4 Ohm or from 4 Ohm to 8 Ohm taps on either amp is 3.0 dB.

You would have to run the 1.25kw on the next lower impedance tap than the 2301 to make the levels the same. For example if you were running the 2301’s on the 8 Ohm tap you’d run the 1.25kw on the 4 Ohm tap to get the same gain/level out of each amp.

Keeping Dan’s legacy alive as well as the 12AT7s tube rolling thematic for the massive MC2301 tube amps.

I had experimented with a variety of 12AT7s when I first received the brand new amps back in 2013. After using the OEMs for a while, I tried JJs, Sovteks, and Mullards. I settled on some EHs which served me well since 2014….yeah, it’s probably time to change out again. So, after re-reading this thread, I ordered a quad of GL12AT7s and hope they will be here in a few days. I am so tempted to order a batch of Telefunkens as well, but, Dan’s remark about how close in personality the GLs were to NoS tubes, prompted me to just order the GLs for now. In the meantime, I am going swap out the EHs for the OEMs to see how they compare since I have been using the EHs for years without any concerns and really enjoyed how they sounded in my system.
