I somewhat disagree. They let the drivers dictate the safety measures instead of mandating them. If it was up to many of the drivers of that era, they would have never put in the special seats, neck support, and other safety features. It took an unfortunate and possibly avoidable death of Nascars biggest icon to force the drivers to change their views. I really hope that NASCAR finds a way to change the racing at the super speedways before there is another.

A real solution is for NASCAR to have a 'last lap' rule.. If YOU cause another car to crash anywhere in the last full lap.. you will be DISQUALIFIED to win. If you are first to the line.. you will be disqualified. Period.
Usually the car behind that causes the crash. (though blocking is also sometimes to blame) It is too much temptation since these guys KNOW exactly HOW to make the car in front get loose.. They know.
