If were me, would definitely expect a significant improvement with TuneTots over the LS50s. For the cost differential, anything less would be...............
As for a sub, I would not worry about same. At least to start with. I've auditioned Joseph Audio Pulsar, Magico A1 and the two largest stand-mount speakers from Harbeth and did not feel the need for a sub for the music (jazz, classical & classic rock) that I listen to. Obviously, you may prefer more bass than I do, but these high-end stand-mount speakers provide amazing bass for what I would call 'normal listening'. Once broken-in and properly placed within your listening space you can make a decision. But I would live with them for several months before deciding.

I don't think you will find a used pair--they have only been out a few years, and they are not a speaker with an obvious trade-up path. Hop in your car--they're worth the drive to listen!

When I was looking for a pair of monitors for my wife’s system a dealer highly recommended a pair of Sonus faber monitors when I asked about the Tune Tots. He had the Wilson to audition but not that particular model of Sf. 100% guarantee by dealer if I did not like the Sf. I chose the Sf - looks did matter since they were going to be used in my wife’s system.

Full disclosure - I traded the Sf Nova 1 towards a pair of Wilson Audio Sabrina X and was given 100% of Sf cost towards the WA.
