It's on my list after "Lonesome Dove" which I am reading right now - on a Kindle....

Alberto

PS I liked the True Grit movie, mostly because of the little smart-mouth girl who stole she show IMO.

The movie was pretty good, but Bridges did overact a bit.

I saw it in the theater quite a few months back. While I was not overly impressed, I thought it was a pretty good movie. I too went in comparing Bridges to John Wayne. I may of enjoyed more if i wasn't doing that. Both excellent actors, but different. I give the movie a "B". I would like to see it again on BlueRay.

I thought it was a pretty good movie, maybe not great. I must be one of the few people who hasen't (yet) seen the original.

The subtitle option is pretty handy on a movie like this. I would have had trouble understanding him without it.

I think it was Roger Ebert who said that Hollywood should stop re-making the really good movies, and remake the bad ones!

Case in point: Nobody could ever make a better version than the original versions of "The Manchurian Candidate" or "The Day of the Jackal" or "Diabolique". Yet, someone did, and in all cases, these remakes were dramatically inferior to the original versions. I was just watching John Frankenheimer's "Seven Days in May" last week, and thought there was no way anyone could make a better version of this film than the original. Frankenheimer, BTW, also directed the 1962 version of "The Manchurian Candidate".

I agree with you on all those movies.

Here is another pet peeve of mine. Why do they think they have to make an American version of good movies. Examples are "Death at a Funeral", "Point of No Return" a remake of "La Femme Nikita" and now they are remaking the "Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" with English speaking actors. The original three were good as is.

Jim
