Yes, I watched the entire series when it was first shown on HBO. Although a couple of episodes were slow I thought it was very well done. My wife bought me the Blu-Ray at Christmas but as of now I have not watched it again.

I ended up reading the three books that were the basis for the Series; With the Old Breed: At Peleliu and Okinawa by Eugene Sledge and Helmet for My Pillow by Robert Leckie plus Red Blood, Black Sand by Chuck Tatum.

They were pretty good. I will look and see if I still have them, I might be able to forward them to you.

Yes- I have worked in national defense for over 25 years. My uncle fought for 3 years in the Phillipines (including Bataan), and I don't know if I would have had the stomach to endure one day of it. We owe our predecessors a debt that can never be paid.

Watched it on HBO and I caught myself comparing it to Band of Brothers which is a tall bar to jump over. To me it seemed to jump around alot, good for the effects and to keep all the speakers in your surround sound moving.
