Too late. I just picked up some WW SE7 XLR cables from sx-626 here on AA. I must resist anymore $ for now. I’m getting the raised eyebrows from the wife. As suggested here, I think I’ll establish a baseline first.

I was going to post a new thread as I just purchased a barely (and I mean barely) used MC462 and C2700. Wow, I just couldn't be more thrilled. I'm coming from a Pass Labs X250.8 and XP22 (which were outstanding frankly).

I had originally planned on going to an integrated amp. I liked the idea of a DAC built into a pre-amp, and I've wanted to try tubes in my system. I really liked the look and package of the MC12000. I had the chance to demo it with some Wilson Sabrina X speakers. There were times I was wowed, and times I felt it sounded congested. I was on the fence. But, I feel my speakers are a bit more revealing than the Wilsons and I had wanted to add just a touch of body to the midrange and mid-bass.

After almost buying a local MC12000, I then saw a heck of a deal on a like-new MC462 and C2700.

I had owned a MC302 briefly, and was a bit underwhelmed. But I've always loved McIntosh gear (who doesn't?).

Reviews on the MC462 are just so outstanding and indeed, it is! It is not laid back, nor is it forward. I had the chance to A/B it along with the Pass 250.8. (DB matched and with the same pre-amp, both the 2700 and DAC direct into the amps.) The truth is the MC462 and 250.8 were very close. Blinded, I would be very hard pressed to tell. But the 462 might have a bit more detail, yet is not at all more forward, bright etc. This surprised me as I thought it might be more laid back.

The C2700... I was concerned. I like bass, and the MC12000 had me slightly concerned that it could sound congested (or was it the speakers?)

I had a chance to briefly demo the C2700 and MC462 at another dealer before I brought mine home. This time Wilson Yvettes... definitely more detail and less congestion than my first demo (but different speakers, room, and the separates). But I had some concerns.

Well, after a week - WOW, WOW, WOW! I am absolutely enthralled with the combo. My speakers are Salk SoundScape 12's. Zero congestion, tons of detail, maybe even a smidge more forward than my Pass Combo (oppo sonica dac). But zero harshness and wow, the midrange and soundstage are awesome.

I'm a rock listener primarily and I've been smiling the past two days every time I listen. The combo had less than 10 hours on them, so I've let it play and run all week. I'm not a big break-in guy, but tubes I do feel do a bit.

Suffice it to say I'm thrilled. The internal DAC is excellent. I don't need all the inputs, but oh well. I literally will just stream into the DAC, and get my HT bypass hooked up.

But, man, what a combo!

I've just been informed by C2700 is backordered till the end of this month. There's this COVID thing going on.

Is it possible (I assume so) to have the meter lights off when in Passthru mode?

I turned them off in non-passthru mode before watching a movie today, but as soon as I went to passthru - the meter lights came back on, and since everything is disabled - I could not turn the meter lights off.

Is it possible... and if so what am I missing?

Thanks

I joined the club today myself....My local dealer had 3 on order (2 already spoken for), so I’ll take his third when they come in. I was told first to second week in May, so we will see what happens!

So I posted a question about power supply under another thread which I would like to thank everyone who responded. This question is slightly different because it deals with the power slightly up the chain. I will be replacing the duplex with a better grade but what device should I use to increase the outlets to 6? I do not want surge protection at this point just the best power provider device. Wall taps seem to fit the bill so, What "wall tap" is best to use? Does it matter? I like the idea of screwing the wall tap into the duplex for rigidity.

Plug the Transparent Powerbank 6 that i recommended into an Audioquest duplex wall outlet--I think you're still less than $1000
