Tony, it is one of my favourite pieces also.
That is why it is not a punishment to keep on comparing the versions I own.
I'm sorry, but I don't have your examples at home (will change when I will do Qobuz in the future).

Listening at orchestral strength now because the Missus is out.
And I have to admit, it gives a different outcome.
I like the multichannel Fischer one a lot when I listen at lower volumes, but at louder volumes, the Reiner (even with the tape hiss) is just better to my taste: it has more bite, it is more 'enthusiastic'.
The Urbanski is new to me, I'll let it sink in first.
My new favourite is one I owned since quite a few years: Kubelik!
It sounded a bit dull at lower sound levels, but I'm just now discovering the genius of it now:

Powerful yet delicate.
A bit thin in the lower registers, but I don't care. It sounds terrific overall.
I'm really drawn into the music, even after 5 Symphony No. 9s the last 24 hours...

I'm going to order the Japanese SACD version of it.

Another one: Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Libor Pesek

This one hasn't been played a lot lately here.
Performance is surprisingly good, but it suffers severely from "digitalitis".
After so many sonic delight this is awful... I'll push the "stop" button!

Elgar - Enigma Variations - In the South - Coronation March
Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, George Hurst

With Naxos, you never can go really wrong.
The quality is at least very reasonable, most often good to even excellent.
This one is good to excellent.

Still comparing.
This time spinning Liszt played by Anima Eterna, conducted by Jos van Immerseel.
The disc starts with the same piece as the one above ended.

The period instruments give it another sound.
You find yourself more on the 8-10th row instead of the 2-3rd in the Nelson Freire.
Both options are very enjoyable, but I slightly prefer Rian de Waal on the 1886 Erard Piano (from van Immerseel's personal collection).

Only Bart would have 18 dozen different renditions of every piece of classical music ever written. Congratulations Bart!
