Back from two weeks vacation followed by almost two weeks of no internet service, I’m enjoying exploring on Qobuz again with this very nice recording:

Little Things in Odd Shapes
Istante Collective
Musica Novantiqua (2019), via Qobuz

Allegri - Monteverdi - Anamorfosi
Le Poème Harmonique, Vincent Dumestre

We're just back home after a most intimate concert with these forces where they brought pieces from this CD.
Amongst them the best Miserere (from Gregorio Allegri) we've ever heard.
The tears came very easily today...

I am absolutely loving this one. It's so... theatrical.

Almost everything this cellist has recorded is of the highest quality.
He has a very recognisable way of playing also.

This played into my practice.

I find that baroque works extremely well in a medical practice.

One of our favourite discs.
Claire Lefilliâtre must have one of the most beautiful and flexible voices of today.
I remember when I heard her live, she touched me deeply.

I simply had to play this today.
Gorgeous album.

Coeur - Airs de Cour Français de la fin du XVIme siècle
Le Poème Harmonique, Vincent Dumestre
Qobuz 24/88.2

Another delicious album.
Composed from 1570 till 1600.
These works breathe calm and quiet.
Shortly after this period, (a lot of the) French music would become more bombastic.
