Hifi Rose RS150 arrived today. First order of business is to order either a 4TB SSD or a 10TB HD for storage.
Am wondering which is the better choice? And, why it is the better choice? Also, any brands to stay away from? There are numerous choices (Samsung, Western Digital, Seagate, etc.). Thanks.

I have been using a synology NAS for probably 8 yrs with no problems with my Silenzo. It’s been rock solid for my 40,000 song library

If I understand correctly, the Synology is where the drives fit, but they don't actually make the drives. I see them offered with either Seagate or WD drives, for instance.
How much space does your library of 40K songs take?

An SSD is faster and quieter. Samsung is good. For hard drives, I've been using WD Red Plus in my Synology NAS for a few years now with no issues.

Yeah mine are WD hard drives and had no issues last 8 yrs……. Think I would go solid state if I had to replace it

Ordered the Samsung 4TB SSD. Figure that it & the RS150 both being from Korea might add some synergy. Have a couple of 2TB HD to use as back-up.
Thanks for your inputs.

Glenn-
Congratulations on the 150; it's gotten some really great press. Good choice on the SSD. Four tb should be more than enough. Well over 1400 CD's ripped in the aiff format are taking less than 800 gb on my server. John

Congratulations on the HiFi Rose - beautiful unit.
Short comment re: SSD drives - if you are making backups (duh) and storing a copy off-site (good idea) - these should be conventional hard disk drives - they do better when completely powered off. Any informed comments on the above? SSD technology is always improving.

Installed the 4TB SSD and set the RS150B in place. Will see if it is good, heat-wise, above the preamp. The C22 vents on the top rear and there is more than 1/2" between, so will see.
'Fired up' nicely. Just have to learn how to use everything.
