I'm curious too. Over in the Dynaudio thread on AVS, "jaxwired" had some interesting thoughts:

"Obviously it's just a guess at this point, but I'd be really surprised if this X promotion was related to the Excite line. For one thing I think they are still too new. Secondly, the Excites are now priced right since the focus line no longer competes. Thirdly, it's way too obvious. I mean if X stand for Excite, that's just not clever at all now is it. I give the Danes more credit than that.

Based on the way it reads I doubt it's a contour update, but certainly contour is due. I also doubt it's the Evidence line. Sounds like something entirely new to me."

"Xpect a revolution. X is easy, X is smart, X is game-changing."

Interesting...

Jeff

I have a hunch this will be the new flagship speaker. The Evidence has been around since 1999 and with the slew of megabuck speakers in the 100k range and above, it's just logical that a proud company like Dynaudio release a new speaker in this exalted price range.

I hope a new speaker cable dedidated especially to Dynaudio...The Swiss firm which is manufacturing Dynaudio OCOS cables has ended very recently their production. I was just in time for purchasing the last parts of OCOS for my speakers coming from the Dynaudio import firm. So which speaker cable will Dynaudio choose for the coming years?

I know they use Van den Hul cable for the internal wiring of the drivers...

Just saw Mick's post over on AVS stating what this is not. Not an updated version of any speaker including the Excite. Not a boombox or Ipod speaker. Yet whatever it is it will be affordable...........relative. After going to Dynaudio site today,it shows the top of an of object..........My guess is its an all in one electronic piece. Something that would make for a killer starter system. However why would Dynaudio do that and rep T&A and Octave gear.......Could it be another special edition speaker?........We will see in 6 days.

Still, even that would hardly be worthy of being called game-changing or ground-breaking without some major twist. Few things really are.

It would be ground breaking for Dynadio if the used a material other than wood and MDF...........hmmmm.

Dynaudio is a Danish company and the Danes are known for their hand crafted furniture, so I am not sure if we will ever move away from the HDF/Real wood veneer combination. Aluminum and the various other materials are beautiful in their own way but nothing says hand made like a beautiful wood finish such as Rosewood or Birds Eye Maple.
