Understood Kev313, and thanks! I just like to feel as if I am doing everything I can to maintain my amps properly. I have had CJ Premier 8's and VTL 750's amongst others, so I'm no stranger to tubes. Both were self bias, with the latter needing a Bias meter to bias....
When I originally learned my DyQ's were self bias, I wanted to learn the procedure. This has just served as a reminder to get off my behind and do so. Cheers -Don

I am always very fastidious in the care and maintenance of all my things, whether they be cars, bikes or even audio equipment.

I would never attempt to repair a damaged Shindo amp, that I will leave to the experts but learning how to bias after replacing tubes is something I need to know.

Jerome, the good news is I am back in business once again!

Last Saturday Danny from Coupe de Foudre came by the house and replaced the 300b's and the fuse. He biased the tubes and taught me how to do it as well. A little tricky on a Shindo amp as you have to turn the amp upside down and remove the bottom to get access. Once that step is completed it really is not that difficult although replacing the fuse certainly requires a steady hand.

We also checked my power receptacles. They are slightly higher than 120 but not really high enough to consistently blow tubes. Hopefully these new pair of 300b's will last a long time.

Being that Danny is a serious vinyl guy I also had him check my cartridge. He made some minor adjustments and the result is a big improvement in my vinyl sound quality. Amazing how what seems like very small changes can amount to huge improvements when dealing with cartridges.

Needless to say I am a happy camper once again.

JJ... Have you ever considered something like a P10 to provide a perfect 120vac sine wave for your gear.

I use a number of brands on all my high end electronics; it improves performance and provides a layer of protection too. Just sayin'

Great News !
I am happy for you.
And yes, adjusting the bias on Shindo amps is a Pita.
I changed my tubes in the CCQ 2 months ago and I have to check the bias again now but I procrastinate....
Did Danny tell you if it would be good to check the bias again after a few weeks ?

No, he didn't say anything about having to check the bias again so soon.

I thought unless you change tubes or the amps have been moved around a lot that once the bias is set it should maintain.

The bias will drift as the tubes burn in, I would do it at about 30 hours and then again at say 100 hours

It maybe an amp issue. Only ten of these have been produced. It's possible that the power on parallel SET Shindo amps has yet to be be perfected. Who knows. What I do know is I have no music. Very disappointing.
I feel very badly for you with all the tube failures, expense and lack of music in your home.

I have two words for you which I doubt will bring you any consolation: solid state

I hope Shindo and the tube companies can get their acts together so you can get back to your music. Sometimes we spend too much time with the equipment and not enough just listening.

There are many of us Shindo owners who have had perfect experiences with there Shindo gear! No need to knock a company over a tube failure! And I won't mention which companies equipment I've had to have serviced the most, let's just say you have some.
