Arrow My Dual 1219 With New Plinth

February last year I sold a Dual 1219, and I've had seller's remorse ever since. I called my good friend at Fix My Dual and he built me another one. Don't get me wrong, I love the man and his work, but the turntable looks average.

So, I contacted a friend in Indiana to see if he could make me a plinth that would dress up such a nice turntable. He made the plinth out of black walnut, and he used two or three coats of tung oil. I contacted another friend who made me a custom acrylic dustcover to my specifications.

Let me know what you think.

Very nice transformation. Do you use the record changer feature? If so, does it work with the dust cover down? If so, I need to think about getting another one of these as I have a lot of record sets from the 1950-60-70 era that are configured to be played stacked. I don't understand why playing records on a changer went out of style. It works fine, hurts nothing and is convenient. Anyway, you have a nice turntable there. I bought one new in 1970 and had it for a couple of years. It worked great.

Bill... I only use the single spindle. I don't like stacking my vinyl likde we did back in the 70s. I do know that I can sit the cover on while I play an LP, but I prefer to leave it off for easier convenience.

I would post a picture of my custom AR but this is a tough crowd who only likes high end.

Nah, not true. We love high performance, not high cost. You will see Oppo, Wyred4Sound, and Sonos in many a rack around here. Heck, I have an Emotiva amp running five channels of my home theater. So, if you have some custom gear, be proud and show it!

I think it displays much nicer now, awesome work and craftsmanship! That dust cover looks like it can hold some weight too.

The dustcover is custom made specifically to my dimensions, and the thickness is 3/16 inches.

Very nice. The 1219/1229 definitely punch above their weight and the auto-stop feature is great. Gave my grand-daughter a Dual 701 for Xmas last year to start her vinyl journey. Should last her until she's out of college (I hope).
